Rong Wang earned her master’s degree from the University of Houston and completed the Educational Leadership – Principal Certification Program at the University of Texas at Arlington. She holds Texas public school teaching credentials and professional certifications and endorsements in ESL, AP Chinese, and Gifted & Talented (GT) Education. Ms. Wang has nearly 17 years of experience in U.S. public education, with extensive teaching and curriculum development experience spanning elementary through high school. She has served in a Texas independent school district, where she has been responsible for developing and delivering Chinese language curriculum districtwide, while also teaching Chinese at both the elementary and high school levels. From 2012 to 2015, Ms. Wang’s Chinese classroom was recognized by Rice University and a U.S. national educational program as a model Chinese language classroom, distinguishing her as one of a select group of Chinese language educators recognized for excellence in teaching and instructional practice. In 2016, Ms. Wang was selected as one of the “Top 50” Most Popular and Influential Teachers from among nearly 10,000 educators representing more than 50 public and private schools in the Galveston-area educational community. She was the first Chinese educator in the history of the recognition to receive this distinction. In 2019, she was voted “Best Teacher of the School” by her students. Ms. Wang’s AP Chinese students have consistently demonstrated exceptional academic achievement. In both 2020 and 2021, 100% of her AP Chinese students earned a score of 5 on the AP Chinese Language and Culture Exam. In 2025, 23 of her 25 AP Chinese students earned a score of 5. In 2024, Ms. Wang was once again recognized as a “Top 50” Most Popular and Influential Teacher, further reflecting her long-standing commitment to educational excellence and her positive impact on students and the broader educational community. In addition to her work in public education, Ms. Wang pioneered an AP Chinese program at a weekend Chinese school in Houston in 2010, helping expand access to advanced Chinese language education for students in the Houston community. She went on establish Houston Dragon Academy, serving as Founder and Principal, where she is dedicated to building high-quality Chinese language, academic, and enrichment programs for students to this day. Building on this program and her extensive full-time education expertise and experience, Ms. Wang founded Dragon Mandarin Immersion School in 2026 and retired from the public school system in order to devote herself to bringing full-time Mandarin immersion and academic excellence to Houston. Throughout her career, Ms. Wang has remained committed to academic excellence, innovative language education, curriculum development, and student-centered learning. Her experience across both American public education and community-based Chinese education has given her a unique perspective on integrating the strengths of Eastern and Western educational traditions and preparing students to thrive in an increasingly global society.
